Covers
Public browsing, member accounts, workspace features, AI features, and public or private submissions.
Plan selection today
Choosing a plan in pricing or registration selects your requested access tier. It does not by itself create an automatic paid subscription or recurring charge.
Key restrictions
No unlawful use, no unauthorized scraping or bot access, no rights violations, and no misuse of AI or map tools.
Main risk rule
Research and AI output are informational only and must be independently verified before being relied on.
1. Scope and Acceptance
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of Urban Lithograph, including the public research library, account pages, the workspace layer, workspace chat, maps, submissions, and related services. By using the site, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the site or create an account.
2. Accounts, Eligibility, and Approval
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep it reasonably current.
- You are responsible for protecting your password, API credentials, and account access.
- Urban Lithograph may require administrator approval before an account is fully activated for sign-in or workspace access.
- Urban Lithograph may refuse, suspend, or revoke access where necessary to protect the service, the archive, or other users.
3. Access Plans and Billing Status
Urban Lithograph displays access plans and may allow you to select one during registration. That selection functions as an access request and plan preference. It does not, by itself, complete a checkout, create an automatically renewing subscription, or authorize an automatic charge unless separate billing terms are explicitly presented to you.
If Urban Lithograph later enables live checkout, invoicing, subscription renewals, taxes, cancellation terms, refunds, or institution-specific billing, those additional billing rules may be presented separately and incorporated at that time.
4. Permitted Use and Site License
Urban Lithograph grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the service for lawful research, reading, documentation, and related internal use in accordance with these Terms.
- You may browse the public research library, create an account if registration is available, and use private tools that your account is authorized to access.
- You may use the service for your own research, editorial, educational, institutional, or planning workflow, subject to the restrictions below.
5. Prohibited Use
- Breaking the law, violating another person's rights, or using the service for harassment, threats, fraud, or abuse.
- Uploading content you do not have the right to upload, publish, process, or share.
- Trying to probe, bypass, scrape, reverse engineer, disable, or interfere with the site, its security controls, or its access restrictions.
- Bulk downloading, copying, or extracting the archive in a way that exceeds normal browsing or permitted use.
- Using bots, crawlers, autonomous agents, or automated retrieval systems to access the service without the appropriate plan, written permission, or feature-specific authorization.
- Using the AI tools to generate unlawful content, spam, impersonation, deceptive output, or material that infringes copyright, privacy, or publicity rights.
- Sharing workspace content or account access in a way that defeats the intended account or approval controls.
6. User Content and Workspace Materials
You retain whatever rights you hold in the content you submit to Urban Lithograph, including workspace records, uploads, notes, prompts, conversations, and submissions. By submitting content, you grant Urban Lithograph a non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, format, process, display, moderate, and use that content as needed to operate, secure, improve, and support the service.
You represent that you have the rights needed to submit the content and to grant that license. Urban Lithograph may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms, applicable law, or another person's rights.
7. Public And Private Areas
The public research library is public by design. Published research records, maps, public excerpts, and other public-facing material may be visible to anyone who visits the site.
The workspace layer is intended for account-bound use. Workspace records, saved conversations, and working copies are generally meant to remain limited to the account owner, administrators, service providers acting for the site, and others with a legitimate operational or legal need to access them.
Urban Lithograph cannot promise absolute confidentiality or perfect security for any internet-based system.
8. AI Features and User-Supplied Keys
Urban Lithograph may offer AI-assisted features inside the workspace. If you save your own OpenAI key in Profile, you authorize the service to use that key to send prompts, images, and related context to the selected AI provider for the purpose of generating output inside the product.
You are responsible for the provider relationship created by your use of your own key, including provider-side usage policies, rate limits, and charges, if any. If Urban Lithograph later supports additional bring-your-own-key providers, those features may be subject to additional provider-specific rules.
AI output may be incomplete, misleading, or wrong. You are responsible for reviewing and independently verifying any output before you rely on it, publish it, share it, or use it to make a decision.
9. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise noted, Urban Lithograph owns or controls the service design, site copy, original research writing, selection and arrangement of archive materials, graphics, branding, and other platform content created for the service. Those materials are protected by copyright, trademark, and related laws.
Historical sources, embedded maps, photographs, or referenced third-party materials may remain subject to the rights of their original owners. Nothing in these Terms transfers rights you do not otherwise have.
10. Third-Party Services
Urban Lithograph depends on third-party services for certain features, including maps, geocoding, AI, infrastructure, and email. Your use of those features may also be subject to the separate terms and privacy policies of those providers.
Urban Lithograph is not responsible for third-party services, third-party content, or third-party outages outside its control.
11. Disclaimers and No Professional Advice
The site, research, and AI-assisted features are provided on an as-is and as-available basis to the fullest extent permitted by law. Urban Lithograph does not guarantee that the service will always be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, secure, or available.
Urban Lithograph research is informational and interpretive. It is not legal advice, engineering advice, surveying advice, title advice, appraisal advice, preservation certification advice, or any other professional service. Users must make their own decisions and obtain their own expert advice when needed.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Urban Lithograph and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, or business interruption arising out of or related to the service.
If a court were to find Urban Lithograph liable despite the above, liability will be limited to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law.
13. Suspension, Removal, and Termination
- Urban Lithograph may remove content, disable features, suspend accounts, or terminate access when necessary to protect the service, comply with law, respond to a rights complaint, or enforce these Terms.
- Urban Lithograph may preserve certain records after termination when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, abuse prevention, dispute resolution, or recordkeeping.
14. Changes to These Terms
Urban Lithograph may update these Terms as the service changes. Continued use after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
Questions about these Terms can be sent through the Urban Lithograph contact page or by email to info@urbanlithograph.com.
