District Context

Uptown Square District enters the city's landmark system as district number 57. The designation date is October 6, 2016, and the official extent note reads Centered on Broadway and Lawrence Ave., the district spans between Wilson to Gunnison avenues, from Magnolia to Ave. to Sheridan Rd.; 1901-1940; various architects. Uptown Square District allows boulevards, parks, and public-space structure, the relationship between open space and surrounding buildings, and preservation of a designed setting rather than a single object to be studied as part of one protected piece of the city.
