AI And Chat

How chat works inside the workspace, how personal API access is set up, and what still needs human verification.

Documentation Summary

AI and chat at a glance

Updated

March 23, 2026

Where chat lives

Inside workspace location records rather than the public archive.

API model

You can save your own OpenAI key in Profile and use it for workspace chat.

What chat is for

Summarizing, comparing, brainstorming, organizing notes, and making location-specific follow-up easier.

What still matters

AI output is assistive, not authoritative. Claims and sources still need verification.

1. Set your API key in Profile

Workspace chat is tied to your account settings. If you want to use your own OpenAI access, save your key in Profile first. Once the key is saved, workspace chat is ready to use.

2. Use chat inside location context

The most useful chat flows happen inside a workspace location record, because the tool can stay attached to the same place, notes, and record history you are already working on.

3. Verify outputs before relying on them

  • Check dates, names, and addresses against the underlying place record.
  • Treat chat as a workflow aid, not as an automatic historical authority.
  • Use source trails and article context when moving anything from draft reasoning into public-facing work.
